Amazing shows again this week!

The days are starting to get longer with spring and summer getting closer & closer.  Tours are still running out almost daily, especially on our prestigious zodiac - BC LUNA.  Passengers are never disappointed by her comfort, speed & safety, which is the perfect balance that a vessel on the west coast of Canada requires.  Besides the incredible boat ride, widlife is in a huge abundance with sea lions, seals, eagles and propoises putting on magnificent shows for all of our international & domestic visitors.

J-Pod off San Juan Islands!

Yay!! j-Pod have been confirmed to have been spotted yesterday off from the San Juan Islands yesterday.  It is one of their well-known fishing grounds and its good to know they are back in the immediate area.  Wildlife Tours have been constantly going out and exploring the coastline of Vancouver Island with amazing sights confirmed! The wildlife has been abundant with loads of sea lions, elephant seals, harbour seals, harbour porpoises and heaps of Bald eagles.  Number of tours are picking up lately and we are running almost daily at the moment.

Sea Lions feeding!!

Yesterday was amazing!! Being a marine biologist I thoroughly enjoying being lucky enough to admire the feeding behaviours of the local marine mammals.  So for me yesterday was exceptional.  We were able to watch a group or raft of Steller Sea Lions ripping apart what appeared to be a halibut.  Was an amazing sight to watch 1.2 ton bull sea lion tearing a fish to pieces!!

Festive Season full of Wildlife & great weather

The festive season was a busy one for us here at BC Whale Tours, well, busier than the season usually is in general.  Tours were running daily with incredible shows from all the local wildlife that call this amazing part of the world home.  Vancouver Island is such a unique ecosystem and can support such a wide array of marine animals.  Steller Sea Lions, California Sea Lions, Elephant Seals, Harbour Seals, Porpoises and Bald Eagles have been sighted continusously on all tours.  Killer Whales have been sighted 7 out of 10 tours we are running, so the chances of admi

Beautiful and busy week

Well, it has been a great start to the festive season when being on the water is concerned. Numerous tours have departed already with amazing widllife and whales being spotted and thrilled passengers all around. Transient Orca and the Resident Pods of Killer whales have been spotted frequently by our passengers with the whales giving an incredible show, displaying their grace and power. Stellar sea lions are back in large numbers occupying Race Rocks, along with California sea lions and even a few Northern Elephant Seals have been lethargically lying around the rocks.

Still Time!!

We still have room on our tours for today and tomorrow!! With seats actually filling up quite quickly you may need to hurry to guarantee a spot to come explore the amazing west coast of Victoria, Vancouver Island!!!!

Both Tours are departing @ 1:00pm on our luxury covered, heated Zodiac - BC LUNA!

Monday & we got Whales!!

Well, another beautiful start to the week, in particular, weathe wise.  As the weekend consisted of rain and stormy weather only to surprise us all and turn out to be sunny and beautiful on Monday.  Today, we had 4 adventurous visitors from South Korea determined to explore the waters around Victoria, Vancouver Island on our open zodiac - BC ORCA.  Captain Harold, was just as excited to get out and show them the west coast of Vancouver Island and literally located our Resident Killer Whales straight away!!

Loving the Fall

Fall is definately upon us here in Victoria on Vancouver Island.  Our daily tours have been seeing an incredible amount of various marine mammals, including Stellar Sea Lions, Californian Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, Bald Eagles, Humpback whales as well as the resident and transient Killer Whales!! With less boats heading out to explore the waters of the west coast it is ensuring a more intimate and personal experience for our visitors to the region.

Just a typical West Coast day!

it is a grey and overcast day, with scattered showers and it is very typical for a West Coast day in Fall.  This weather, however, is vital to maintain the healthy ancient rainforest environment that is found throughout Vancouver Island.  For wildlife watching on the water it can seem to be bit of a deterent because honestly who wants to be on the water whilst its raining in 4 degrees?? I can completely understand this way of thinking if you were planning on going on an open vessel.

Busy week!

It has been a little while since I have updated the blog as its been all systems go for us here at BC Whale Tours.  Whale sightings have been constant with numerous Humpbacks, Transient and Resident Killer Whales being sighted almost daily!! The wildlife tours have been incredibl jam packed with other marine mammals too, including harbour seals, stellar and californian sea lions and bald eagles!
